The Great Congress of the Historic Bolivarian Bloc of the five generations is in session here today for its second day, during which round tables will be set up to discuss the Seven Transformations Plan (7T).
The historic meeting began the day before in Bolívar Park, in La Carlota, Miranda state (north), where delegates from the different grassroots structures of the People’s Power, men and women of the people, attended, as was said at its installation.
The government programme of the 7Ts is made up of economic issues; services, infrastructure and public works; security, peace and sovereignty; social transformation; the construction of a new state; confronting climate change; and new geopolitics of world power for the construction of a world of peace.
Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez recalled that more than 100,000 assemblies were held throughout the country, in which more than 3.5 million citizens participated and made more than half a million proposals.
This congress, she said, must define the course of Venezuela, and affirmed that these are defining hours in which we have to play to build a truly communal state that is at the service of society and raises the banners of Bolivarian socialism and doctrine.
The oil minister ruled out any negotiation with fascism and said that «there can be no conciliation with extremist groups» because this school of thought «does not understand and is irrational for those of us who truly have a conception of life and the human being».
He recalled the hard years the country had gone through and called on people to rise up «to defend Venezuela as a single force and a great conscience».
They have been hard years of battle, but here we are standing up, with our heads held high, standing up to the hegemons who imposed by force a blockade that «has tried to asphyxiate Venezuela’s economy and attack our population», he stressed.
The president of the parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, pointed out that the thousands of assemblies in which the people themselves construct ideas to envision the future, have a «profoundly Chavista sense and this congress has as a fundamental characteristic its Chavista character», he insisted.
He said that this is the main tool for tackling the country’s challenges in the future.
Another issue of debate will be the construction of another state of justice and law as a constitutional mandate, which is with the people and oriented towards the construction in the years to come of a communal, democratic state, on the basis of the constitution and the experience of the people.
This meeting will conclude tomorrow in a plenary session where President Nicolás Maduro is expected to attend.
