64th Polio Vaccination Campaign begins in Morón

From this Monday until 26 April, the 64th Bivalent Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign will take place in the municipality of Morón, as in the rest of the country.

During this period, the first dose of the antidote will be administered to children from one month of age to those who have not yet reached the age of three, and coincides with the 23rd Vaccination Campaign of the Americas and the 14th World Immunisation Week.

Infants who for certain reasons are unable to receive the vaccine this week will have the opportunity to do so between 28 April and 3 May.

The immunisation will be carried out at the Family Doctor and Nurse Clinics, designated by each health area of the Moronense territory.

The second dose of the medicine will be applied between 16 and 21 June, with the recovery between 23 and 28 of that month, and in addition to children between one month old and under 3 years of age, those who have reached the age of 9 will also receive it, as reactivation.

The first polio vaccination campaign in Cuba dates back to 1962, when the disease was eliminated in only 4 months. Since then, annual campaigns have been carried out with this objective (Author: Yhosvany Jiménez Hernández).
