15th National Notariat Conference Held in Havana

To study and train on the new regulations of Law No. 175 on the Notariat, in force since 7 January 2026, the 15th National Conference of the Cuban Notariat Society was inaugurated today in the capital.

The Ministry of Justice (Minjus), on its Facebook social media profile, reported that the opening was led by Rosabel Gamón Verde, Minister of Justice, and Yanet Alfaro Guillén, President of the Cuban Notariat Society, who highlighted the importance of strengthening the role of the notary in the current economic context.

The praesidium of the event included Alexis Ginarte Gato, President of the National Union of Jurists of Cuba; Lidia Montes de Oca, Vice-President of the National Organisation of Collective Law Firms; and Carlos Manuel Díaz Tenreiro, Magistrate of the People’s Supreme Court, together with deputy ministers, prosecutors and university professors.

Gamón Verde stressed that Law No. 175 redefines the notary as a jurist of prevention, guarantor of citizens’ will and legal certainty, and noted that the tightening of the United States economic, commercial and financial blockade hinders the sector’s performance.

The first working day includes papers on general aspects of the law, mediation, succession and commercial matters, presented by Minjus specialists and university professors.

Following the presentations, a national debate will be held with practical contributions from notaries, aimed at the correct implementation of the regulations in each territory.

The programme of the 15th National Notariat Conference will continue in Havana with new sessions of analysis and discussion.
