Yoerky Sánchez Cuellar promoted as director of Granma newspaper

In his place, to take up the directorship of the Juventud Rebelde newspaper, it was agreed to promote comrade Yuniel Labacena Romero

The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party agreed to promote comrade Yoerky Sánchez Cuellar to take up the responsibility of director of the Granma newspaper.

Yoerky, 41, is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, a deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power and a member of the Council of State.

A graduate in Journalism in 2007, he has held various roles, from reporter-writer at the Vanguardia newspaper in Villa Clara, and director of the Alma Mater magazine of the Abril Publishing House. In 2014 he began his working life at the Juventud Rebelde newspaper, serving as head of department, editorial deputy director and, from 2017 to the present, as its director.

In his place, to take up the directorship of the Juventud Rebelde newspaper, it was agreed to promote comrade Yuniel Labacena Romero, a 36-year-old youth, member of the National Committee of the Union of Young Communists, who since his graduation as a Licentiate in Journalism in 2014, has remained at this publication assuming different responsibilities such as reporter-writer, Head of National Information and editorial deputy director.
