The presidents of the national assemblies of Cuba and Angola held official talks
A demonstration of the historical relations of friendship, cooperation, solidarity and affection between the peoples of Cuba and Angola was the fraternal exchange held, in the National Capitol, between the member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party, Esteban Lazio Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People’s Power and of the Council of State, and Carolina Cerqueira, president of the National Assembly of Angola.
“This is an occasion to exchange experiences and analyse what more we can do to expand cooperation for the benefit of our peoples. Your visit is of great importance to us, we are united by historical and truly fraternal ties. It also takes place at a time when we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the independence of Angola and the half century of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries,” expressed the head of the Cuban Parliament.
He thanked the invariable support of Angola for the lifting of the blockade imposed by the United States Government against our country, and for the immediate exclusion of Cuba from the spurious list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
For her part, Carolina Cerqueira emphasised: “We take with us the examples of resilience, of courage and bravery of the Cuban people. We will strengthen the ties between both legislative organs at all levels, with a spirit of multilateralism and parliamentary cooperation that will continue achieving positive results in the activity of our national assemblies. Count on our solidarity, forged in the struggle for the independence of Angola and reinforced in the present through cooperation in various areas.”
Both delegations ratified inter-parliamentary cooperation agreements. Furthermore, the President of the National Assembly of Angola exchanged with directors and scientists of the Finlay Institute of Vaccines, and laid a floral tribute in homage to the National Hero José Martí.
