Vietnam will never forget Cuba’s support in difficult times of the past and will always be at its side, sharing experiences and supporting it to the extent of its possibilities, affirmed today in Hanoi President Luong Cuong.
The Vietnamese Head of State made the pronouncement while receiving the Minister of Foreign Relations, Bruno Rodríguez, who is undertaking a visit to this Indochinese nation in his capacity as special envoy of the Communist Party (PCC) and Government of Cuba.
Cuong also asserted that «Vietnam will deepen, stabilise and maintain bilateral cooperation in all spheres, maximising the strengths of both parties to contribute to the development of each country.»
In the context of the current complex global situation, consolidating and developing the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba is not only the responsibility of each Party and each country, but also the aspiration of their peoples, he considered.
The Vietnamese President also noted that the visit of a special envoy of the PCC and the Cuban Government immediately after the successful conclusion of the XIV National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam constitutes a special political gesture that vividly demonstrates the close and trustworthy relationship between the two Parties, States and peoples.
He also recalled the glorious history of the ties between both countries, meticulously cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and stressed that the Vietnam-Cuba relationship «is an invaluable asset, a symbol of the times, tested by the flames of war and the vicissitudes of history.»
Luong Cuong, reported the Hanoi Moi newspaper, highly valued the success of the «Year of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship,» held in 2025 on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, and expressed his confidence that the visit of Rodríguez and a high-level delegation would further strengthen this special relationship.
The Cuban special envoy, for his part, reaffirmed that Cuba has always prided itself on having a loyal friend and comrade like Vietnam, and expressed his confidence that, under the wise leadership of the Communist Party (CPV), it will continue to achieve new accomplishments in the new era of national development.
Rodríguez also conveyed his warm congratulations to the Vietnamese leaders on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the founding of the CPV and for the success of its recently held XIV National Congress.
In the meeting, which took place in a solemn and fraternal atmosphere, both parties agreed to implement the high-level commitments and agreements, especially the key cooperation projects in agriculture, renewable energy and biotechnology, thus developing economic relations commensurate with the existing special political bond.
The also member of the Political Bureau of the PCC was received yesterday by the General Secretary of the CPV, To Lam, and the Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and held talks with his counterpart, the Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung.
