Three Provinces Conclude Civil Registry Digitalisation

The Ministry of Justice concluded the digitalisation of the Civil Registry in the provinces of Ciego de Ávila, Camagüey, and Las Tunas, as part of the national programme for the computerisation of legal services, specified the judicial institution’s website.

Oscar Manuel Silvera Martínez, Minister of Justice, presided over the recognition ceremonies in the territories, where he highlighted that the computerisation will expedite procedures for the population and guarantee greater security in the conservation of documents.

In Ciego de Ávila, the municipalities of Chambas, Majagua, Morón, and the provincial head municipality were recognised, with special mentions for Majagua, Morón, and Ciego de Ávila, and particular distinction for Chambas for its planning and results.

The head official indicated that the process was possible thanks to the effort of the registrars and the supportive assistance of the College of Administrative Managers of Madrid, which donated state-of-the-art scanners to accelerate the work.

In Camagüey, Silvera Martínez highlighted the work of the workers and managers in scanning volumes of birth, marriage, and death records, which will allow for more agile and reliable access to information.

During the ceremony in Las Tunas, authorities from the Party, the Government, and the legal sector recognised the dedication of the collectives, particularly of young female workers who took on the task of digitalisation with responsibility.

According to the minister, the culmination of the process in these provinces adds to the progress achieved in Guantánamo, Sancti Spíritus, and the Isle of Youth, and he reaffirmed the purpose of concluding the digitalisation across the entire country before the next year.

The computerisation of the Civil Registry will allow any registrar to consult the information from any point in the country, will reduce inaccuracies in certifications, and will consolidate the preservation of the nation’s historical memory.

Silvera Martínez recalled that this project forms part of the digital transformation strategy of the justice system, in correspondence with the government programme based on science and innovation.
