Sonya Rivero López, second secretary of the National Committee of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), considered the work carried out by the members of this organisation in Ciego de Ávila, deserving of the distinction of Outstanding in the emulation at a national level for the 8th of March, International Women’s Day, to be meritorious.
The above was revealed at the celebration of the event, which was held at the Grúa Nueva popular council in Primero de Enero, a municipality that was awarded the status of vanguard in the organisation’s provincial emulation.
During the event, Rivero López praised the role of women in Avila in the current context, where challenges are imposed that prioritise diversity in programmes such as prevention and the strengthening of the FMC, while highlighting the sense of belonging in the search for alternatives to achieve the satisfaction and channelling of basic problems.
The leader mentioned among the projections of the Cuban federates the broad programme in celebration of the 95th anniversary of the birth of Vilma Espín Guillois and the 65th anniversary of the organisation, which include a group of tasks in correspondence with the priorities of the country, such as food production, prevention and social attention with an objective look at each neighbourhood, and the comprehensive strategy to confront gender violence.
The second secretary of the National Committee of the Federation of Cuban Women stressed that, beyond a commemorative programme from a communicational point of view, it must guarantee a positive evaluation and the well-being of Cuban women. She also congratulated the women of Avileña and called on them to contribute to the integration and strengthening of the FMC.
