Workers at the Camilo Cienfuegos Nursery in the Avilanian municipality of Morón are developing the initial actions to guarantee tree saplings for the upcoming Reforestation Campaign.

The Morón collective is working on filling plastic tubes with soil, as well as seed planting, weed elimination, and cleaning the areas adjacent to the trays.

This year, the workers of this entity have the commitment to deliver 170 THOUSAND saplings, which will be used for establishing new plantations and repopulating others affected by low survival rates or forest fires.

According to details from the Head of the Nursery Collective, Dionisio Domínguez Pérez, this year’s saplings are of timber trees such as the Neem tree and casuarina, while for fruit trees the cashew, custard apple, sugar apple and other small-seeded varieties that can grow in the tubes are being promoted.

The Reforestation Campaign is due to begin in the month of October, coinciding with the presence of rainfall, which will guarantee the survival of the plantations.
