Chaired by Humberto David González Figueroa, president of the Provincial People’s Court, and Osmaida Hernández Beleño, member of the National Secretariat of the Federation of Cuban Women, the Family Workshop was held in Ciego de Ávila.
The interventions showed the benefits and opportunities offered by the Family Code and highlighted the progress of the National Program for the Advancement of Women.
María Félix Arocha Hernández, a prosecutor with vast experience in the Department of Family Protection and Jurisdictional Affairs, exemplified some of the 52 recent processes derived from the Family Code, especially the adoption of a minor by a medical couple.
Those present at the meeting agreed on the need to deepen the application of this regulation and other recently approved procedural laws.
Among the presentations were the contextualization of the National Plan for the Advancement of Women, the best interest of the child from the substantive and procedural point of view, as well as the protection of the elderly.
The Family Workshop convened by the People’s Provincial Court in Ciego de Ávila was also attended by representatives of the Cuban Communist Party in the territory, deputies to the National Assembly of People’s Power, prosecutors, lawyers, FMC leaders and law students.
