Price control actions in anti-crime exercise

Actions to control retail prices that have a greater impact on the population, and others aimed at verifying taxpayers’ compliance with their tax obligations, are being carried out this week by the Finance and Prices system throughout the country.

Executives of the Ministry of Finance and Prices (MFP) informed the Cuban News Agency that since the first day of the National Exercise to Prevent and Confront Crime, Corruption, Social Indiscipline and Illegalities, non-compliance with the established norms has been detected, and action has been taken against the perpetrators or those responsible.

In all municipalities, inspectors from various agencies have mainly detected violations of prices agreed by the local administration and those set out in Resolution 225, as well as health and hygiene standards, outdated information boards in the commercial network, non-use of payment gateways and immobilised accounts.

According to data published on digital platforms by the MFP itself, on Monday alone in eight thousand 649 inspections, violations were detected in five thousand 221 production and service centres, including businesses, and five thousand 022 fines valued at 16 million 354 thousand pesos were imposed.
During the exercise and through its structures in the territories, the Ministry of Finance and Prices has proposed to consolidate the organisation of confronting price violations and other objectives of fiscal control, collection of fines and commercial and banking discipline.

All of this is carried out at the level of the People’s Councils and by taking advantage of the integration of the inspection forces with community factors and popular participation.

Systematising the effective participation of students in retail price controls, and following up on the analyses and measures applied by the municipal management and administration councils, of the deficiencies pointed out in the verifications of the application of MFP Resolution 209/2024 (30% profit regulation) are also purposes of the organism.

At the same time, it aims to complete the purging of the potential number of taxpayers obliged to open tax bank accounts, who are not operating them and have not made payments to the budget for more than three months.
