The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted today as a great achievement of the nation having reached four thousand Communes out of a plan for six thousand, to be achieved by January 2027.
“The expression of the empowered people, direct and revolutionary democracy,” expressed the head of state on his social media Telegram account.
For the head of state this “is the experience that Venezuela defends” to continue on the heroic and patriotic path of constructing a new human and socialist society.
During a working visit the previous day to the Rafael Urdaneta Urbanisation, in the Sucre municipality, Aragua state (north centre), the leader unveiled the plaque of what is considered a historic milestone of having reached the four thousand Communes, a popular government proposal put forward by Commander Hugo Chávez.
Maduro described the moment as “symbolic, significant and historic,” stating that the development of the Commune, of socialism in the territorial sphere “is the greatest thing our people are doing today, in decades, in the construction of their own power.”
He affirmed that the independence of the Republic is founded on an empowered, conscious, organised people.
“We are heading towards the six thousandth Commune, empowered people, direct democracy, revolutionary democracy,” he emphasised.
The dignitary alluded to the US military presence off the coast of Venezuela in Caribbean waters and stated that after 15 weeks of psychological warfare escalation “today we are stronger from a constitutional and institutional point of view.”
Also this Thursday, the Venezuelan Minister for Communes and Social Movements, Ángel Prado, thanked “from the soul” many people for their valuable support and, especially, the great work team at the Ministry of People’s Power for Communes, Social Movements and Urban Agriculture.
«Collectively we have managed to advance to the four thousandth Commune, making a significant contribution to the impulse given by President Nicolás Maduro to the country’s Communal movement,» indicated the head of the ministry on his Telegram account.
Prado urged to continue working, with the care this task requires, to “guarantee the revolutionary quality and political efficacy,” and as the President says: the government must empower the people.
