On Monday, September 9th, a regular vaccination schedule began in the province of Ciego de Avila and throughout the country to apply the pneumococcal vaccine Pneumosil-10 to children over two months of age and under one year of age.

The vaccine Pneumosil-10 has immunising properties, useful in the prevention and treatment of pneumococcal infections such as sepsis or bacteremia, meningitis, ear infections and pneumonia.

All primary health care institutions in the territory of Avila are responsible for vaccinating children at the established times, with the intervention of nurses and family doctors.

This new Pneumosil-10 vaccine is incorporated into the regular vaccination schedule in Cuba to protect the lives of infants.
