Pharmacies and opticians’ shops in Ciego de Ávila recognised

The Empresa Provincial de Farmacias y Ópticas Ciego de Ávila, even in the midst of the difficult circumstances the country is going through, is seeking alternatives to improve its economic and financial management, with results that have earned it the status of National Vanguard Collective.

Proof of this is that proceeds from sales of natural medicines represent 51.4 per cent of total income at the end of 2024.

According to Dulce María Fernández Martínez, director of the entity, the main economic indicators such as retail circulation, total sales, net sales, productivity and profits, both at the end of 2024 and in the first quarter of the current year, are over-achieved.

With these levels of activity, revenues of 103 million 200 thousand pesos were generated at the end of last year and 27 million pesos at the end of March, which represents more than 105 percent of the fulfilment of the plan.

She added that the plan to produce 103 percent of natural medicines by 2024 and 101 percent by the end of the first quarter of this year was exceeded, with five million 979,600 vials available to the population to date.

Similarly, 75 assortments of natural medicines were produced, replacing 70 products in the basic list of industrial medicines.

Farmacias y Ópticas Ciego de Ávila was able to take over the subsidy previously received from the state budget for the difference in prices of natural medicines through cash sales.

Meanwhile, the distribution of profits to stimulate workers amounted to 3,155,000 pesos, which represents an additional payment of 5,000 pesos.

The payment of the union dues and the political movement Mi Aporte a la Patria (My Contribution to the Fatherland), was contributed to the mother and child programmes and the fight against cancer. The collective delivered a suitcase to the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) for the victims of the cyclone in Guantánamo, among some of the activities carried out during the stage.

Likewise, as part of the union’s work, a basket suitcase was delivered in salute to May Day, clothes were donated for children in the Majagua Maternity Home, and the company has selected a delegate to the 22nd Congress of the CTC.

In the framework of the celebrations for the International Day of the Proletariat, this entity recently received the National Vanguard collective flag, which preceded it in 2024 with the award of National Distinguished, which speaks of superior management.

During the ceremony, the Piti Fajardo distinction was awarded to three workers of the organisation, who have maintained an outstanding trajectory and uninterrupted work for more than 20 and 25 years: Iraida Cala Guirado, Roselia Pérez Moreno and Amarilys de Armas Olms.

The founders of the Homeopathic Services of the province of Avila were also recognised: Yadira Mera Carril, Yanet Alarcón Lara, Nilda Esther Guerra Padrón and Iris Hechemendía Pérez.
