Five notable Cuban art figures will be invested next Friday with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, conferred by the Anglo-Hispanic-Mexican University (Uahm), as a result of the alliances that are expanding today in the cultural sphere.
The outstanding choreographer Lizt Alfonso, the general director of the Children’s Theatre Company La Colmenita, Carlos Alberto Cremata; the actor Jorge Perugorría, and the visual artists Roberto Fabelo and Manuel Mendive will receive the high distinction in the Hemicycle of the Universal Art Building of the National Museum of Fine Arts, in this capital.
This investiture celebrates the work of decades of consecration, placing the name of Cuba in a position of merit, the Honorary Director of this important house of high studies, Daniel Martín, declared exclusively to Prensa Latina.
The Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba company, led by the Cuban dancer and teacher, will entertain the ceremony, which will be attended by the former Colombian Minister of Culture, Patricia Ariza; Mexican Senator Jorge Carlos Ramírez, among other personalities from both nations.
This year, the Puebla-based university has conferred the prestigious title on other Cuban artists such as pianist Frank Fernández and musician Edesio Alejandro, as well as the Spanish group Mocedades.
According to Martín, the Uahm has agreements with the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Havana and other educational institutions, collaborations that they wish to extend to the tourism sector.
