Two research projects from the Ciego de Ávila Bioplant Centre have merited national awards granted by the Academy of Sciences of Cuba.
In the Agricultural Sciences category, the research «Bioproducts from Nicotiana tabacum and Morinda royoc: a biotechnological strategy for sustainable agriculture» was awarded.
In the Natural and Exact Sciences category, the award went to the work «Contributions to the phytochemistry, pharmacology and conservation of plants growing in the east-central region of Cuba.»
Both works belong to a collective of researchers from the Bioplant Centre, a centre attached to the Máximo Gómez Báez University of Ciego de Ávila.
This institution has spent more than three decades dedicated to agroscience and also trains highly qualified researchers, who contribute to the improvement of agricultural production.
