The Avilanian municipality of Morón will host the Provincial Event for International Museum Day on Friday 16 May, in recognition of its outstanding work in the preservation of historical memory.

The activity will be held at the Caonabo Museum in the City of El Gallo and will be an opportunity to encourage the institutions and personalities who have made the greatest contributions in Ciego de Avila to the preservation of history.

The occasion will also be an opportunity to recognise the work of museums in the social fabric of their communities, in terms of conserving and promoting good citizen practices in the preservation of cultural and natural heritage.

Since 1977, the museum community around the world has been celebrating International Museum Day every 18 May to raise awareness of the importance of museums as a means of cultural exchange.
