Facing the situation of zero generation in the National Electrical System caused by the unforeseen outage of the «Antonio Guiteras» Thermoelectric Plant, the province of Ciego de Ávila immediately activates its plan of measures to confront this contingency.
From the provincial electrical dispatch centre the following actions are coordinated:
✅ Feeding the population: All state entities of Commerce and Gastronomy, together with other institutions, have been mobilised to prepare and guarantee the sale of food to the population in the neighbourhoods.
✅ Water supply: All available tanker trucks are mobilised to ensure the water supply to the community.
✅ Guarantee of vital services: Power generator groups are activated to maintain essential services in health centres and other priority institutions.
✅ Local energy generation: Work is underway to start up Island Generation, incorporating for the first time in this type of contingency the capacity of the province’s solar photovoltaic parks.
✅ Informational transparency: Provincial media, including Avilanian Television, will maintain permanent coverage to inform the population about the evolution of the situation and the main measures adopted.
The provincial authorities reiterate the call for citizen calm and compliance with the officially issued guidance.
