In Ciego de Ávila, a network management group was formed to guarantee the creation of the provincial and municipal executive of the Cuban Association of People in Situation of Intellectual Disabilities (ACPDI), founded last June.
On how the foundation process is progressing in Ciego de Avila, Milsy Monteagut Rodríguez, leader of said group, commented that they are in the process of acquiring the headquarters.
She also added that so far it has more than 40 active members and the idea is to carry out a survey from the communities to collect all the people living with intellectual disabilities in the province, which will allow working with mass organizations and family doctor’s offices to support each one.
This Association aims to promote the inclusive development of people with intellectual disabilities and guarantees the full exercise of their rights. This is another step towards recognition and total inclusion, seeking to create a social awareness on the subject along the way.
