International Festival of New Latin American Cinema to take place

Cámara Azul, the meeting par excellence for audiovisuals in the Romerías de Mayo, was a propitious space to announce the opening of the call for entries for the 46th edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema.

Rubén Ricardo Infante, press director of the event, informed that until 15 August of this year, works will be received for the competitions for feature-length fiction films, debut films, short films and animation, among other categories related to the seventh art.

At the meeting, held at the Chaplin Café in Holguín, Luciano Castillo, director of the Cinemateca de Cuba, praised the Cuban public, which faithfully accompanies each edition of the event.

Something that has not changed at the festival is the public, the Cuban public has a fervour that is not found at other international festivals, he said.

It is an event that has become a window to see all possible cinema beyond the American continent, because it maintains the name but encompasses much more, said Luciano Castillo.

The importance of the cinematographic bibliography for film scholars was also discussed at the meeting, where valuable copies were also given to the Holguín branch of the University of the Arts.

The 46th edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema will be held in Havana from 4 to 14 December.

The press director of the event added that it will be a space for dialogue about this event and invited people to register their works and keep informed of the requirements by accessing the event’s platforms.
