The Electrical Company of Ciego de Ávila informs the population that, at 9:14 a.m. today, a total interruption of the electrical service occurred at the national level.
The event originated following the unforeseen outage of the «Antonio Guiteras» Thermoelectric Plant (CTE) from the National Electrical System (SEN).
Immediate actions for restoration:
- In the province: The necessary technical works are being carried out for the creation of local microsystems with distributed generation in the territories of Chambas, Morón and Ciego Norte.
- These microsystems will be reinforced with the injection of energy from the province’s photovoltaic parks.
Service prioritisation:
Once these microsystems are activated, the electrical supply will be prioritised for:
- Hospital and health centres.
- Water pumping stations.
- Dairy and food production centres.
- Clients located on the lines of those circuits.
Recommendations to the population:
This is a complex technical process due to the unstable condition of the system. The population is recommended to:
- Disconnect all electrical household appliances (refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions, etc.).
- Keep only one light bulb or strictly essential items switched on.
- This measure helps to protect your equipment and facilitates the gradual stabilisation of the service.
