The Florencia and Chambas teams lead the Provincial Baseball Championship undefeated, after the first six games for each of the ten teams involved in the competition.

The Florencians, current champions, have had good pitching so far, with a pair of wins per capita for Osvaldo Cárdenas and Arioskis Hernández, their two main cards, who came out on top against Ciego de Ávila and Venezuela.

The Mountaineers will soon have the service with the lumber of Ronaldo Castillo, who has just recorded an excellent performance in the Third Elite League in which he was one of the mainstays in the crown of Los Tigres.

Chambas has also had a perfect start, beating Venezuela’s representatives Baraguá and Morón on a couple of occasions, in each case as a home club.

They are followed in the standings by Bolivia (4-1), Primero de Enero (2-2), Baraguá (2-2), Ciego de Ávila (I3-3),. Morón (2-3), Ciro Redondo (1-5), Majagua (1-5) and Venezuela (0-6).

Ciro Redondo, a team that in recent years was among the leaders and was crowned on three occasions, had a dismal start.

This Saturday’s schedule foresees the duels Florencia-Bolivia, Ciro Redondo-Chambas, Ciego de Ávila-Primero de Enero, Morón-Majagua and Venezuela-Baraguá, always at the home ground of the former.

In this Provincial Championship, each team will play 18 matches and the top two in the standings will have the right to compete for the title in a play-off of five matches to win three.
