As part of its development strategies, the Reinaldo Manning Credit and Service Cooperative (CCS) in the town of Lázaro López inaugurated the first worm humus production centre in the municipality of Majagua.
In the opening ceremony of the installation that responds to the two million pesos that by concept of investment were assigned to this territory for the improvement of the soils, the engineer René Pereira Lazo, in charge of the task, explained to those present the characteristics and perspectives of the work.
In this regard, the specialist argued that of the five chambers that make up the facility, whose capacity is 5.76 cubic metres each, in this first stage only one has the breeding feet in operation and at the end of the cycle of three to four months the first results of the effort aimed at the fertilisation of the fruit tree nursery and the sale of the product, both in solid and liquid form, are expected to be obtained.
The opening ceremony of the first Worm Humus Production Centre in the southwest of Avila was attended by a group of guests, among them, the member of the Municipal Bureau of ANAP in charge of the agri-food area Osiel Padrón Sosa and the soil specialist of the Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture Carlos Hernández Ulloa, while a significant number of members of the aforementioned peasant group enjoyed the event.
It was also learned that the second installation of this type, aimed at soil improvement through agro-ecological methods, is being carried out in the Raúl Barbosa Cooperative, in the district of Orlando González.
