Esteban Lazo Continues Intensive Work Agenda in Geneva

Esteban Lazo, President of Cuba’s National Assembly of People’s Power, continues today an intensive work agenda in Geneva, Switzerland, within the framework of the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.

According to reports from the Cuban legislature on X, Lazo participated this Wednesday in the General Debate of the event, which will run until 31 July, organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in collaboration with the United Nations.

During the Conference, the President of Cuba’s Council of State held bilateral meetings today with his counterparts from Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man, and Turkey, Numan Kurtulmus.

The Cuban Parliament highlights on its website that this Tuesday, Esteban Lazo met with the Chair of the Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, Valentina Matvienko, with whom he emphasised the potential to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation.

He also held discussions with the President of Cambodia’s National Assembly, Khuon Sudary; with the President of Equatorial Guinea’s Chamber of Deputies, Salomón Nguema Owono; and with both the President and Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Tulia Ackson and Martin Chungong, respectively.

The President of Cuba’s National Assembly of People’s Power participated this Tuesday in the Conference’s inaugural session, as well as in the parallel event «Respecting International Law and the UN Charter to Guarantee International Peace and Security».

During that day, Lazo also held meetings with Zhao Leji, Chairman of China’s National People’s Congress Standing Committee; with Rawhi Fatooh, President of the Palestinian National Council; and with Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
