The network of stations of the Cuban National Seismological Service reported an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 at a depth of 10 kilometres and 34 kilometres southeast of Pilon, in the eastern province of Granma.
According to the institution, the quake was located at latitude: 19.69 and longitude: 77.03 west, at 1:52 local time.
The quake was reported to be felt in several localities in Granma and Santiago de Cuba.
On the 10th, also in the municipality of Pilón, another 6.7 magnitude tremor shook Granma, Guantánamo and Santiago de Cuba, and was felt from Camagüey to Cienfuegos, in the centre of the Antillean nation.
Some 48 hours later, 1,966 aftershocks were counted, 71 of which were presumably perceptible.
Since then, according to the National Centre for Seismological Research, more than 5,700 aftershocks have been recorded, 125 of which were perceptible.
