With the aim of preserving lives and resources, volunteers and specialists from the Red Cross in Ciego de Avila are reviewing and preparing a disaster risk reduction plan for the approach of Hurricane Beryl.

This was reported to this radio station by Iliana Fuentes Torres, secretary general of the provincial branch of the organization, who added that the functioning of the Operations and Relief groups is being specified.

They also review the forces and resources available in each municipality, select and prepare evacuation centres, and prepare volunteers for each task from the beginning of the Information Phase.

The specialist warned that, given the importance of the current situation, due to the proximity of Hurricane Beryl, the Family Guide should be disseminated, aimed at preparing people for each of the phases decreed by the Civil Defence.
