The XI International Congress on Disasters begins today in the Cuban capital, where attendees will share experiences and outline common strategies to face them.

The event, which will be held in parallel to the VII International Conference of Firefighters, will be held until Friday at the Convention Palace.

This XI International Congress will address topics such as the National Platform for the Management of Disaster Risk Reduction, the integral preparation of society to achieve a culture and effective management in the handling of disasters.

The natural, technological and health origin of disasters, information and communication technologies and special data infrastructures will also be part of the debate.

Participants will address issues related to international cooperation and assistance, dealing with extreme events and the introduction of new technologies for disaster response.
