The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, visited this Friday the ‘Nguyen Van Troi’ Sand Processing Plant, as part of his tour of sites of socioeconomic interest in the municipalities of Chambas and Ciro Redondo.
Accompanied by the Secretary of Organisation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales Ojeda, the leader learned first-hand how the aggregates processed in this unit guarantee renewable energy projects and the country’s tourist development.
During the exchange, Asdrúbal Pérez Triana, director of the UEB Chambas Quarries – to which the sand plant belongs – explained that this unit plays a crucial role in supplying materials for national strategic objectives.
For his part, Miguel Ángel López Cordero, Head of the Processing Plant, detailed that the mine sand produced and washed there is destined for «all the prioritised programmes of the province,» including the tourist hubs of Cayo Coco, Cayo Cruz, and Santa María.
Previously, Díaz-Canel had shared with the student body and faculty of the ‘Antonio Maceo’ primary school in Chambas, where the entry into the José Martí Pioneer Organisation was celebrated.
The President also visited the ‘Jesús Ménendez’ Agricultural Production Cooperative, where workers receive average incomes of 15,000 pesos monthly, and the ‘Raúl Cervantes’ rice dryer in the locality of Falla.
At the close of this report, the presidential entourage is conducting the conclusions of the visit to the municipalities of Chambas and Ciro Redondo at the municipal headquarters of the Communist Party of Cuba in the latter territory.
