Díaz-Canel Exchanges with Producers in the Municipality of Chambas

The ‘El Tesoro’ Farm, adjacent to the La Oriental settlement in the Avilanian municipality of Chambas with 72 hectares dedicated to rice cultivation, was one of the centres included in the visit made this Wednesday by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and Roberto Morales Ojeda, also a Member of the Central Committee and Secretary of Organisation.

In the exchange with the usufructuary producer Alexeis Marrero González, one of the most outstanding rice producers in the territory, the president learned about the seed yield, number of workers, and average salary.

For his part, Juan Carlos Balmaceda Hernández, director of the Chambas Agroindustrial Enterprise, whose production includes various crops, livestock, and Rice, the latter being its main line, gave extensive information on the compliance and cultivation projections for 2026.

The president was interested in the seed quality and the percentage yield, as well as aspects related to production plans and the attention to the workforce.

Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez called for the use of idle lands with conditions for rice cultivation, as they are located in low-lying areas, and urged producers to intensify cultivation until achieving autonomy for the in-demand cereal.

The tour through our province also included a visit to the Pina reservoir brigade, belonging to the Majagua Oil Production Basic Business Unit.

Liusvany García Barceló, director of this entity, explained the quality of the product from this reservoir as well as the projections for its exploitation.

He likewise explained the behaviour of the economic indicators, where profits are achieved and an average salary of 16 thousand pesos.
