Díaz-Canel Addresses the IV Eurasian Economic Forum

Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, addressed the Plenary Session of the IV Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk, Belarus today, highlighting the strategic importance of strengthening ties between Cuba and member countries of this integrationist union.

The Cuban leader thanked the invitation and noted the honour of participating for the second time in this Forum, describing it as an «essential platform for business exchange» in the region.

He further highlighted the presence of a Cuban business delegation organised by the Chamber of Commerce, demonstrating his country’s willingness to consolidate economic relations.

Despite the economic blockade, Díaz-Canel emphasised the capabilities of participating Cuban enterprises, which offer diverse export products and investment opportunities.

He also underscored Cuba’s professional resources, developed infrastructure, and advantageous business legislation.

During his address, he announced the organisation of a special panel on «Opportunities for Developing Economic Ties between the Eurasian Economic Union and Latin America», designed to promote greater trade and investment exchanges.

The President proposed using Cuba as a logistics and investment hub, leveraging the advantages of the Mariel Special Development Zone and its strategic geographic position to serve as a bridge between Eurasia and Latin America.

Furthermore, he extended a cordial invitation to participate in the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV) this November, as an ideal space to formalise business deals and strategic alliances.

The Head of State outlined key sectors for deepening collaboration: biopharmaceuticals, agriculture, sugar agroindustry, light industry, metalworking, chemicals, transport, construction, communications, digitalisation, renewable energy, tourism, health, science, education, and sport.

He stressed the need to establish complementarity mechanisms that generate sustained growth and mutual benefits for all parties involved.

Díaz-Canel reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to advancing the construction of «a common space for development and integration» based on just and equitable economic relations.

Concluding his address, the President thanked the hosts and expressed his conviction that «together and integrated, we can overcome challenges that today seem impossible.»
