The workers of the Basic Business Unit (UEB) of Ciego de Ávila, belonging to the Central Equipment Company, known as Cubiza within the Cuban business system, are contributing to the change in the energy matrix in several provinces.
This collective, a National Vanguard in the construction sector, is currently prioritising the investment process of assembling structures in photovoltaic solar parks. Nearly 60 per cent of its employees are involved in these tasks, while the remainder undertake work in productive hubs.
Carlos Alberto Venegas Alemán, director of the UEB, highlighted the dedication of his co-workers in the construction of the Ortigal solar park, in the municipality of Florida, in Camagüey, where they provide lifting, drilling and boring services for pile driving.
He stated that the working day is around 10 hours daily, and longer depending on the need to accelerate the progress of the work, which demands greater commitment from the workforce due to the intense sun, dust and other adversities on site.
«We are awaiting the commencement of other missions of this type in the Avilanian territory and other areas of the country,» emphasised the director.
For the fulfilment of the actions currently being executed and the commitments for 2026, the men and women of Cubiza Ciego de Ávila draw strength from having successfully met the challenge of winning, for their province, the venue for the national event for 5th December, Construction Worker’s Day in 2025.
It is worth recalling that, when the call was made for this commemoration, those involved in the lifting works were showing encouraging results and concluded their annual economic exercise with over 24 million 500 thousand pesos, with a significant role played by innovators and rationalisers who keep the cranes and other equipment operational in various locations across the Cuban labour landscape. Cubiza stands out for its flexibility in adapting to the conditions of each place and diversifying its service portfolio in line with the construction and industry sectors. (Taken from Trabajadores)
