The Cuban under-23 baseball team was crowned champion of the 6th edition of the Eddy Martín Sánchez «In memoriam» Baseball Cup which took place over 4 days at the José Ramón Cepero stadium in Ciego de Ávila.

In a dramatic game decided in the bottom of the ninth inning by a long clean hit to left field by Santiago third baseman Euclides Perez, it drove in the run that decided the 3-2 challenge.

The players of the under-23 selection will continue their preparation in Avilanian grounds and in the coming days will join their official national series rosters to begin the domestic Antillean tournament on 2nd September; on the 16th they would be departing for Havana for the final training camp and their departure will be on the 25th of this same September bound for Panama to participate in the pre-world tournament from 26th September to 3rd October which grants 3 tickets to the category’s world championship.

The under-18 squad will continue their training under the watchful eye of Abeicy Pantoja bound for the World Championship in Japan.
