The members of the International Relations Commission of the National Assembly of People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba strongly condemn the aggression by the governments of the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran, in violation of the United Nations Charter, International Law and the sovereignty of states.
We deplore the loss of human life caused by the attacks carried out from 28 February onwards, which have caused around one thousand deaths and injuries to date. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Iranian people, the Government and the Islamic Consultative Assembly, for the assassination of the supreme leader of the Persian nation, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other senior leaders of the armed forces; as well as to the families of the hundred girls killed in the bombing of a primary school in the city of Minab.
This deliberate assault, which took place while diplomatic efforts were underway to reach an agreement on the nuclear issue of the Islamic Republic of Iran, demonstrates once again that the United States and Israel are the main threat to world peace, and that their philosophy of war seeks to impose hegemonic interests and seize the natural resources of nations.
We call on parliamentarians around the world and people of good will in the international community to demand respect for the independence and territorial integrity of states; to work urgently for peace; and to call for more decisive and responsible action from international bodies.
Let us say No to war!
Long live peace and the progress of the peoples of the world!
