The Cuban government attaches great importance to economic, trade, financial, and cooperation relations with the Eurasian Union and its member states, said Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, at the Supreme Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
The EAEU is a successful, attractive, and sustainable integration project, he said while hailing the economic results of the bloc.
The President reiterated Cuba’s willingness and interest as an observer state to have greater participation in the Union’s mechanisms to move toward deeper integration.
Díaz-Canel highlighted the broad coincidences between Cuba’s National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030, with the medium and long-term priorities of the EAEU, with emphasis on the role of science and innovation.
He specified the lines of work in which the Caribbean country wants to deepen relations with the Union, emphasizing the areas of industry, tourism, technical regulations, sanitary, phytosanitary, and veterinary measures, among others.
The Head of State said he was in favor of advancing the introduction of new Cuban products and maintaining the registration of those already existing in the Eurasian market.
Díaz-Canel made available to the EAEU member states the experiences and achievements that Cuba has obtained in the field of medical, pharmaceutical, and biopharmaceutical industries.
The Eurasian Supreme Economic Council is being held in the context of the 64th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Russia, political ties that to this day maintain a high level in all spheres of mutual interest and are committed to a sovereign path of development.
