Cuba present at Guangzhou International Travel Fair, China

The 33rd Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF2025) brings together here today more than a thousand exhibitors and representatives from 60 countries and regions, including Cuba.

According to diplomatic sources, Cuba is participating with a promotional stand at this event, one of the most important of its kind in Asia.

The Tourism Counsellor of the Cuban Embassy in China, Elizabeth Vela, highlighted the growing interest in the island’s participation, which is in line with a greater knowledge of the Chinese market about the Caribbean nation’s tourism.

This growth, she explained, is the result of a more active promotional campaign of Cuba Única, starring Chinese figures and aimed at positioning the image of the Caribbean country as a unique and attractive destination.

In this regard, the official told Prensa Latina that more and more young Chinese are becoming curious about the island’s culture, history and heritage.

During the fair, the Cuban delegation held meetings with representatives of Air China, to whom she expressed the willingness to expand cooperation in air connectivity.

It also met with important travel agencies from the south of the Asian giant linked to Cuba, among them GZL International Travel Service Ltd. and Guangdong China Travel Service Co.Ltd.

As part of the presence at the fair, an exhibition of typical products such as rum, honey and coffee available on the Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com was organised within the Excelencias Cuba pavilion.

There was also a presentation highlighting the main tourist attractions and the current facilities for Chinese citizens wishing to visit the Antillean country, including the current visa exemption policy.

Vela recalled that in the last edition of the International Tourism Fair of Cuba (FITCuba 2025), China was the guest of honour, a milestone that strengthened bilateral cooperation in this sector.

He also recalled that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the People’s Republic of China, a propitious occasion to further strengthen bilateral ties in multiple fields, including tourism.
