A Cuban delegation is participating in the 29th session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), which opened today in Baku, informed the Cuban ambassador to Azerbaijan, Carlos Valdés.
According to the Caribbean nation’s diplomat, the important Cuban representation is made up of officials and experts from the Ministries of Science, Technology and Environment and International Relations.
Valdés added that COP29, to be held at the Baku Olympic Stadium from 11 to 22 November, is the largest event organised by Azerbaijan to date and the first of its kind in the region.
The highest level event within COP29 is the Global Leaders’ Summit on Climate Action, which will take place from 12-13 November.
During the opening of COP29, the government of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change signed a «Host Country Agreement» and other important documents, the Cuban diplomat said.
