Cuba laments damages caused by Typhoon Kajiki’s strike in Vietnam

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, lamented this Thursday the damages caused by the strike of Typhoon Kajiki in territories of Vietnam, via a message on X.

«We lament the loss of human lives and the material damages caused by the passage of Typhoon Kajiki through Vietnam,» stated the Chancellor.

Likewise, he expressed the «most heartfelt condolences to the Party, Government and People of that sister nation, especially to the relatives and close ones of the victims.»

According to the most recent reports, Typhoon Kajiki impacted Vietnam and Thailand with winds of up to 150 kilometres per hour, and «caused floods, landslides and severe damages to homes and crops.»

The authorities of Vietnam confirmed the death of seven citizens and 34 injured persons, although rescue workers continue their tasks.

The Vietnamese government ordered the evacuation of half a million inhabitants to avoid greater harm and reported the total or partial destruction of some 10 thousand [homes], the affecting of over 81 thousand 500 hectares of rice crops and the loss of around two thousand head of cattle.

Kajiki is already a tropical depression and the precipitation in the centre and north of the Asian nation hinders the work of the rescue teams.
