The Secretary of Organisation of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Roberto Morales, called on farmers in the Caribbean nation to move forward immediately to solve problems.
At the balance assembly of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) in the province of Mayabeque, the political leader expressed his organisation’s confidence that the cooperative and peasant sector of that territory will manage to increase production and its social responsibilities.
«This is demonstrated by successful experiences that should be generalised,» Morales affirmed, who also urged to work intensely in the spring campaign to grow in all indicators with respect to the previous one.
As reported by the PCC on its website, the Secretary of Organisation at the meeting addressed the actions being carried out to stabilise the National Electro-energy System, an essential issue for the operation of irrigation machines that depend on electricity for their operation.
He also highlighted the imprint of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on the livestock programme in this province, which he urged to recover, and insisted on the need to plant more sugar cane and give it better attention.
For his part, the national president of ANAP, Félix Duarte, stressed that «Mayabeque is a province that knows how to do agriculture, with extensive experience of the peasant movement».
Duarte pointed out that there cannot be cooperatives with losses and incapable of fulfilling their commitments, at the same time as he referred to the policy of cadres in the organisation and the need to stop the decrease in the livestock mass.
