Cuba’s Minister of Communications, Mayra Arevich, today in Russia, in an interview with the multinational TVBrics channel, spoke of her country’s priorities as a Brics partner country.
The minister, who has been leading the Cuban delegation to the Innovations and Services Fair and the Digital Forum taking place in the Russian city since 2 June, explained that the association with the Brics opens up new opportunities for Cuba in the areas of science, technology and international cooperation.
«The possibility of being in the artificial intelligence alliance with the Brics is going to open up a path of integration and work for professionals from the association and Cubans in projects that are not only for our peoples, but also for the world of the countries of the bloc. I think we have potential,» Arevich said.
She also recalled that Cuba acquired the status of Brics partner country in 2024 and, since then, has been actively implementing joint initiatives. According to the minister, the partnership has raised the status of Havana’s science and technology park.
At the same time, she stressed, Cuba is committed not only to the technological sphere, but also to the social sphere.
In her opinion, the country’s president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, has highlighted three key areas: work in the online environment, support for social initiatives and improving the level of education, especially with regard to modern information technologies.
He added that the digital forum has become an important opportunity for Cuba to expand its potential in these areas.
