Cuba and French project discuss small livestock cooperation

The Cuban ambassador to France, Otto Vaillant, today visited the experimental goat farm of Pradel, in the southern department of Ardèche, to outline a possible cooperation in the field of small livestock.

At the entity created in 2018 to combine production with scientific research, the head of mission and the embassy’s economic and commercial counsellor, Danae de Paz, were received by its director, Jérémie Annicette-Mondélis, and also spoke with breeders.

According to diplomatic sources on the island, the meetings held at the Pradel complex covered topics such as production, best practices for goat breeding and research related to animal feed.

The projection is that the French experimental farm and Cuban associations involved in the small livestock development programme on the island will establish collaborative ties, leading to joint work, based on the will expressed by the parties.

Vaillant explained the priority that food security represents for the Antillean nation and the obstacles to this objective imposed by the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States and its intensification in recent years.

Before the visit to the Pradel farm, the Cuban ambassador and de Paz took part in various activities in Ardèche, a department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, at the invitation of Regional Councillor Eric Hours, a member of the French Communist Party, and Bernard Blanc, president of the France Cuba solidarity association.
