Cuba Aims for Third Straight Win in Little League Series

The Santa Clara squad, representing Cuba in the Latin American Little League Baseball Series (9-10 age division), will face Nicaragua today, seeking their third consecutive victory at the Monterrey, Mexico tournament.

The young Cuban Leopards enter this matchup fresh off Wednesday’s 12-6 comeback win against Panama – a game that showcased their resilience and clutch hitting. Trailing early 0-2, the team erupted for ten runs in the fifth inning behind explosive offence and strategic moves by manager José Yadián Ganuza, whose pitching substitutions have proven crucial throughout the tournament.

Cuba remains undefeated in group play, having opened the competition by dethroning Mexican champions Treviño Kelly on Leonardo López Jr.’s walk-off hit. Their bullpen management and tactical adjustments continue demonstrating the coaching staff’s preparation, with the team currently leading their bracket ahead of Venezuela, Panama, Mexico, Nicaragua and Chile.

Following today’s game, the Caribbean squad will meet Venezuela on Thursday before closing group play against Chile on Friday. With their combination of talent, composure and dugout leadership, another victory would significantly boost Cuba’s chances of advancing to the tournament’s next phase
