Concluded in Ciego de Ávila National Urology Conference

With a favourable balance and the participation of specialists from across the entire country, the National Urology Conference concluded in Ciego de Ávila.

The event, which was in session for several days, stood out for the high scientific level of the presented research and the fulfilment of its programme almost one hundred percent.

Dr Amarilys Mercantete Martínez, paediatric urologist from the Centro Habana Paediatric Hospital, presented on the care for children with congenital anomalies.

She highlighted the work of her centre as a national reference and the strategy of the Mother and Child Programme (PAMI) to guarantee comprehensive care from prenatal diagnosis, even amidst the current limitations.

During the closing ceremony, directors of the Cuban Society of Urology emphasised the necessity to foster research and the exchange of experiences between all the provinces.

The effort of the organisers and the Avilanian authorities was recognised, which will allow future events to return to this venue.

Dr Mariano Castillo Rodríguez, president of the Society, thanked the participants and confirmed that the first great objective of the new board was fulfilled.

The meeting served as a starting point to raise even higher the scientific level of the speciality in Cuba, with sights set on the forthcoming congresses.
