Several awards were given to its workers at the National Day of Safety and Health at Work, held in Ciego de Ávila.
The medium-sized agro-industrial enterprise Media Luna, a distinguished private entity identified with the acronym Mipyme in the province of Ciego de Ávila, is again in the news after its workers received several awards at its premises, where a symposium for the prevention of diseases of epidemiological origin was held during the National Day of Safety and Health at Work.
The collective deserved the certificates that accredit its entity as a safe center, protected company and outstanding for not having work accidents and complying with biosafety protocols, among other achievements in the 2018-2022 stage.
Individually deserved the emulative category called Star of Work, the worker José Ángel Olivera Pérez. While the Provincial Secretariat of the CTC stimulated as outstanding in Safety and Health to the Unions of Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco Workers; Industries; Energy and Mines; and Hotels and Tourism.
At the meeting, Dr. Eduardo Artiles Pardo, provincial director of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology, ratified the importance of the effective operation of the focal self-control brigades in the work centers, the eradication of weeds and stagnant water and keeping the tanks covered to avoid the proliferation of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.
The specialist explained that it is necessary to increase preventive actions in all municipalities, especially in Majagua and Ciego de Avila, both in the stage of dengue transmission, with greater magnitude in the municipal capital, so he called on the population to go without delay to health institutions at the first symptoms caused by the disease, such as fever, malaise and general malaise, among other warning signs.
Yuniel Espinosa Reyes, member of the Provincial Secretariat of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba, urged to improve the training of the members of the entities’ focal self-control brigades and to increase the work of the union inspector.
