With the commitment to maintain a sustainable management in the transfer of passengers and the balance of loads, the transport workers of Ciego de Avila celebrated this Thursday the Day of the Worker in this sector, instituted on June 28th, 1971.
In the celebration of the event, the Unidad Empresarial de Base Cuba Catering, Aeropuerto Internacional Jardines del Rey, Transmetro, Ómnibus Nacionales, Sitrans and the self-employed Mototaxis, all of them with an outstanding union trajectory, were encouraged.
Similarly, Alain Palacios, general director of Puerto Casasa, was presented with the award for Outstanding Provincial Union by Roberto Gil, secretary of the Transport and Port Workers’ Union in the territory of Avila.
At the ceremony, a group of women and men with outstanding uninterrupted work for 20 and 25 years, respectively, were awarded the José María Pérez Capote medal, the emblematic martyr of this sector in Cuba.
The moment was also an opportunity to recognise a group of retirees who dedicated their entire lives to the transport sector, with significant contributions to the entities in which they worked and to the country’s economy.
