Ciego de Ávila Secures Water Resources

The drizzles associated with cold fronts are benefiting the water table and reservoirs of Ciego de Ávila, now at 59% capacity, according to the Hydraulic Utilisation Company.

In the current dry period, monitoring of reservoirs and the water table continues; the latter is currently decreasing in all sectors of the province, some considered to be in an unfavourable state.

The northern and central zones are the most affected by the scarce water, compounded by the instability of the electricity supply, in response to which water tankers are being mobilised to alleviate the difficult situation with the supply of this essential service.

Rich in groundwater, the Avilanian province guarantees the water balance for the residential sector and entities, in accordance with the planned cycles; nevertheless, the rational use of this resource is indispensable given the economic limitations.
