After five weeks of a constant increase in febrile cases in the province, the health authorities of Ciego de Ávila report a decrease of these symptoms in the last week.
Dr José Luis López González, Deputy Director of Epidemiology, confirmed this downward trend in the majority of the municipalities, although he urged caution.
The specialist explained that it is necessary to observe the behaviour of the next 14 to 21 days to confirm if this decrease is consolidated.
Among the territories with the highest reports of fever in the previous weeks were the municipalities of Ciego de Ávila, of Morón, of Venezuela and of Chambas.
In parallel, the infestation indices of the Aedes aegypti mosquito remain high in Morón, Majagua, Baraguá, Chambas and Florencia, while the provincial capital is the one reporting the most active foci.
Faced with this scenario, intensive control actions continue to be carried out, such as adulticide treatments, fundamentally in Ciego de Ávila and Morón.
The health authorities remind the population of the importance of the family self-inspection and of permitting the workers in order to consolidate this favourable trend.
