Ciego de Ávila Evaluates Trade Union Work Priorities Ahead of the 22nd CTC Congress

Under the presidency of Yaisel Osvaldo Pieter Terry, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and of the Organising Commission for the 22nd Congress of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC), a working meeting took place in this province aimed at evaluating and consolidating the strategic objectives of the Avilanian trade union movement.

The meeting, which included the presence of Yunielkis Valdés Rodríguez, an official from the Provincial Committee of the Party, analysed the principal lines of action leading towards the upcoming CTC Congress.

The debates centred on four fundamental lines of work:

  1. Preparations for the 87th Anniversary of the CTC: Emphasis was placed on reaffirming the unity of the workers’ movement and its role in the defence of the Cuban Revolution.
  2. Debate of the Economic Plan with the workers: The importance of guaranteeing the leading participation of the workforce in the discussion of economic directives was highlighted.
  3. Consolidation of grassroots trade union organisations: Strengthening this essential structure for workers’ representation was identified as a priority.
  4. Evaluation of cadre work: The need to promote more effective, exemplary and grassroots-linked trade union leadership was underlined.

In particular, the meeting evaluated the organisation’s administrative and commercial management, with special attention to key sectors such as accommodation, transport and self-provisioning farms. The stated objective is to advance towards the self-financing of the provincial trade union structure through efficient administration.

The Provincial Committee of the CTC in Ciego de Ávila reaffirmed, in this setting, its commitment to mobilise all its structures to contribute to the success of the upcoming national Congress. The meeting served to ratify the unity of the Avilanian workers’ movement and its alignment with the principles of the Cuban Revolution.
