Over 58 thousand students from the different educational levels joined the teaching centres in Ciego de Ávila this first of September to begin the 2025-2026 school year.

The Antonio Maceo primary school in the municipality of Chambas hosted the provincial event for the school year, whilst the Águedo Morales Reina Special school was the venue for the opening celebration in the Avilanian territory.

The present course is dedicated to the centenary of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, and has among its priorities maintaining the stability of teaching coverage, raising efficiency indicators and strengthening work in the pedagogical schools and the Vocational Pre-University Institute of Exact Sciences.

In this sense strategies are being implemented to solve the deficit of teaching staff, which are facilitated by the hourly contract, the increase of the «Educa a tu Hijo» programme, and the employment of technicians from organisations, additionally, by evaluating the incorporation of university students from the «Educando por Amor» task.

Despite the difficult economic and energy situation Cuba is experiencing, 403 educational institutions opened their doors in the province, an effort that has required creative solutions and the commitment of all sectors to face complex realities, with the imperative to continue exploring the paths of knowledge.
