CDRs Prepare for 65th Anniversary

The Committees for the Defence of the Revolution (CDRs) will reach their 65th anniversary on 28 September, for which they are preparing various organisational activities that will intensify as the date approaches.

In an exclusive interview with the Cuban News Agency, Eliades Rodríguez Martínez, CDR coordinator for Havana, stated that the CDR structure has developed strategies to celebrate the committees’ creation while also serving as a prelude to commemorating the centenary of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in 2026.

Rodríguez Martínez indicated that during this period, activities are being carried out to engage communities through various initiatives, includingneighbourhoodd improvement plans, raw material collection drives, sports festivals, and blood donation campaigns, among others.

Hemphasiseded that the organisation is confronting drug use through community debates to raise societal awareness about the harms caused by certain illicit substances, particularly among younger populations.

The interviewee specified that as part of the celebrations, the 65th anniversary flag will arrive in the capital on 1 September, touring all municipal districts before concluding its journey in Old Havana, which will host the national commemorative event.

He stressed that one of the CDRs’ current challenges is maintaining revolutionary popular vigilance as their foundational mission to defend socialism and the nation’s achievements.

«Only through the unity of all Cubans can we overcome the nation’s current challenges,» he concluded.
