Call in Italy to Increase Solidarity with Cuba in the Face of US Aggression

The National Association of Friendship Italy-Cuba (Anaic) condemns the United States measure against oil supply to the Caribbean nation and calls for expanding solidarity with that people and their Revolution in the face of such aggression, indicates a note today.

In a statement, this association expresses the commitment, given the current situation, to relaunch with force the fundraising campaign «Energy for Life», initiated since the end of last year, which recently surpassed 130 thousand euros, destined for various social projects in eastern Cuba.

Marco Papacci, president of Anaic, highlighted in recent statements to Prensa Latina that participating in the Energy for Life campaign, alongside his organisation, are the Italian Association for Social Promotion (ARCI), the General Italian Confederation of Labour (CGIL) and the National Association of Italian Partisans (ANPI).

The leadership of Anaic, on behalf of thousands of members of that organisation grouped in hundreds of circles distributed across all Italian regions, expressed in the document its support for the «Nuestra América Flotilla» project, which will carry aid to the island, as well as its purpose of identifying other forms of support for that nation.

The association denounces the «extraordinary aggression carried out by the government of Donald Trump and his acolyte Marco Rubio» to prevent the entry of oil, which Washington tries to justify with the false and absurd argument that this small country represents an unusual threat to the national security of the United States.

«Cuba is not a threat to any country in the world and, on the contrary, represents the most human thing that a society can construct for the enjoyment of fundamental rights,» a nation that «has strived to offer in every corner of the planet» its «cooperation and solidarity in matters of health and education,» it states.

Anaic alerts about «the very serious situation that Cuba is experiencing» as a consequence of the new genocidal action by the United States government, aimed at intensifying a genocidal economic, commercial and financial blockade, in violation of the human rights of that people.

It also reaffirms the objective of mobilising all its forces «to multiply actions of material and political solidarity,» with an «appeal to all of Italian society, individuals and organisations, to contribute to this effort,» while recalling the medical aid provided by Cuba to Italy during the Covid-19 pandemic.
